Hakuna Matata Day:
A Day Just for Children

Hakuna Matata Day began in 2025 at Rose’s Centre in Tanzania. Created by ZZ Pendana Foundation, it is a day to celebrate childhood itself: laughter, friendship, music, games, shared cake and the simple freedom to enjoy being a child.

Our Second Annual Celebration |
October 9, 2026

On October 9, 2026, 850 children from four schools and centers gathered in Baraa, Tanzania, for the second annual Hakuna Matata Day, organized with ZZ Pendana Foundation. The celebration featured music, acrobatics, dancing, and a powerful message of inclusion from 12-year-old Nasma, who advocated for every child’s right to love, respect, and education.

The day also brought exciting news: funding had been raised for Bright Future Primary School’s new computer lab, with plans to support a similar project at Winning Spirit Academy in 2027. With the support of local leaders, performers, donors, and volunteers, the event celebrated friendship, opportunity, and belonging—leaving children with joyful memories and heartfelt expressions of gratitude.
